Unlike SHT White zirconia, SHT Multilayer includes a built-in gradient shade structure. Compared with SHT Pre-shaded zirconia, it provides a more natural cervical-to-incisal transition rather than a single uniform shade.

Available in a 98mm open-system disc format, multiple thicknesses, and 20 multilayer shade options, it is a practical solution for laboratories producing anterior crowns, veneers, selected bridges, and high-esthetic zirconia restorations.

CE and FDA-related documentation can be provided for review when applicable. Please contact us before ordering if your laboratory requires a specific certificate, batch, or technical documentation.

SHT Multilayer Zirconia for Natural Esthetic Restorations

SHT Multilayer Zirconia is developed for dental laboratories that need enhanced translucency and a more natural shade transition in esthetic restorations.

Compared with SHT Pre-shaded Zirconia, SHT Multilayer provides a gradient transition rather than a single uniform shade. Compared with ST Multilayer Zirconia, it offers higher translucency for cases where light transmission and natural appearance are more important.

This makes SHT Multilayer a suitable choice for anterior crowns, veneers, selected bridges, and esthetic crown-and-bridge cases where a lifelike cervical-to-incisal effect is preferred.

  • High-translucency multilayer zirconia for esthetic restorations
  • Natural cervical-to-incisal shade transition
  • Suitable for anterior crowns, veneers, and selected bridges
  • More natural appearance than uniform pre-shaded zirconia
  • Practical for laboratories seeking efficient esthetic production

Multilayer Gradient Structure

Designed to support a smoother cervical-to-incisal transition for more natural-looking esthetic zirconia restorations.

SHT Multilayer Zirconia is designed with a multilayer gradient structure that transitions from higher-chroma cervical areas to more translucent incisal areas. This helps dental laboratories create restorations with improved depth, brightness, and natural appearance after sintering.

The gradient structure is especially useful for anterior and esthetic cases where a single uniform shade may look too flat, but the laboratory still needs an efficient CAD/CAM workflow.

  • Cervical Area

Designed with stronger chroma expression to support a more natural cervical shade appearance.

  • Body Area

Provides a balanced transition zone for the main crown body shade and overall restoration harmony.

  • Incisal Area

Designed with improved translucency to help create a more lifelike incisal effect.

OnePro Dental SHT Multilayer zirconia disc CAD CAM milling process for full-arch dental restorations

Recommended ST Multilayer Zirconia Workflow

  1. Select the required shade and disc thickness according to the restoration design.
  2. Design the restoration in CAD software based on restoration type, connector design, and occlusal clearance.
  3. Confirm the correct cervical-to-incisal orientation before nesting.
  4. Position the cervical area toward the darker/chroma side and the incisal edge toward the more translucent side.
  5. Nest the restoration properly in the 98mm multilayer zirconia disc.
  6. Mill the restoration using a zirconia-compatible CAD/CAM milling system and validated milling parameters.
  7. Clean the milled restoration carefully and remove zirconia dust before sintering.
  8. Sinter according to the recommended furnace program and batch-specific instructions.
  9. Apply surface stain or glaze only if additional characterization or final shade adjustment is required.
  10. Finish, polish, and inspect the final restoration before delivery.

Workflow Note:
Correct nesting orientation is critical for multilayer zirconia. If the restoration is positioned upside down, the cervical and incisal gradient may be reversed, affecting the final esthetic result.

What is SHT Multilayer Zirconia best used for?

SHT Multilayer Zirconia is best used for esthetic restorations where high translucency, natural shade transition, and efficient shade workflow are required. It is suitable for anterior crowns, veneers, selected bridges, and high-esthetic crown-and-bridge cases.

What is the difference between SHT Multilayer and SHT Pre-shaded Zirconia?

SHT Pre-shaded Zirconia has a uniform pre-integrated shade, while SHT Multilayer Zirconia has a gradient shade transition from cervical to incisal areas. SHT Multilayer is usually preferred when a more natural shade transition is required.

What is the difference between SHT Multilayer and SHT White Zirconia?

SHT White Zirconia is a white base designed for manual coloring, staining, and glazing workflows. SHT Multilayer Zirconia already includes a built-in gradient shade structure, helping reduce manual shade-building work for many esthetic cases.

What is the difference between SHT Multilayer and ST Multilayer Zirconia?

SHT Multilayer Zirconia offers higher translucency, approximately 47%, and is optimized for esthetic-focused cases. ST Multilayer Zirconia offers higher strength, up to 1200 MPa, and may be preferred when strength is more important than translucency.

How many shade options are available?

SHT Multilayer Zirconia is available in 20 shade options, including A1, A2, A3, A3.5, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4, C1, C2, C3, C4, D2, D3, D4, BL1, BL2, BL3, and BL4.

Do I need to stain SHT Multilayer Zirconia before sintering?

In most standard esthetic cases, additional pre-sintering staining is not required because the gradient shade is already integrated into the material. However, surface stain or glaze can still be applied after sintering when additional characterization or final shade adjustment is needed.

How should I position the restoration in the multilayer disc?

The restoration should be nested according to the correct cervical-to-incisal direction. The cervical area should be positioned toward the higher-chroma side, and the incisal area should be positioned toward the more translucent side. Incorrect orientation may affect the final shade transition.

What is the flexural strength of SHT Multilayer Zirconia?

SHT Multilayer Zirconia provides flexural strength up to 1000 MPa, making it suitable for many esthetic crown-and-bridge restorations when used according to proper design, milling, and sintering protocols.

Which CAD/CAM systems are compatible?

This product is supplied in a 98mm open-system disc format and is compatible with many open dental CAD/CAM milling systems that support 98mm zirconia discs. Please confirm your machine holder and milling strategy before ordering.

Can you provide CE and FDA-related documentation?

Yes. CE and FDA-related documentation can be provided for review when applicable. Please contact us before ordering if your laboratory requires a specific certificate, batch, or regulatory documentation.
